Thunder Mountain Speedway
1st Annual King of the Mountain Results: Skylar Marlar picks up a $10,000 Pay Day.
First of all, WOW! What a night on the Mountain! Thank you for each and every driver, crew, and fan that came out to the 1st Annual King of the Mountain!
97 cars total signed in for the night! 37 Pro Late Models, 10 Open Wheel Mods, 17 Hobby Stocks, 18 FWD, 9 Crown Vics, and 6 Jr. FWD.
Late Models were split into Groups A & B qualifying. Jared Delk out of Jamestown, TN set quick time in group A at 13.037. Skylar Marlar set quick time in group B at 13.208. Jared Delk picked up the $100 Fast Time Award sponsored by Monty Hart Signs & Graphics.
Jared Delk, Dustin Linville, Skylar Marlar, and Cameron Weaver all picked up heat race wins to set the front two rows of the feature. After re-draw Linville drew the pole position, Marlar drew second, Delk drew third, and Weaver drew fourth.
When the green flag dropped Linville got out a 1.5 second lead before hitting lap traffic and Marlar was able reel Linville back in before the caution came out on lap came out on lap 16. The first caution fell for 4th place Jared Delk when he made contact with the back stretch wall and climbed over the wall in turn 3 landing on all fours. Delk was not injured, and track crews worked quickly to get the car back on the right side of the wall. After the red flag was lifted and the green came back out, Linville lead the next 7 laps before the caution came out again. Marlar was able to get around him on the next restart and went on lead the final 26 laps.
Post-race inspection Marlar's engine was removed from the car and inspected in the garage by certified engine builder. Marlar's engine was deemed legal and he cashed in on the $10,000 to win pay day to become the 1st King of the Mountain!
---Support Classes----
Support classes went straight into heat races for the evening as they done a pill draw for their starting positions instead of qualifying.
Blake Brown picked up the heat race win in the Open Wheel Mods. Ean Baker & Jason Callebs won heats 1 & 2 in Hobby Stock. Jacob Smith & Eric Partin scored heat race wins in FWD. Trace Wilson won the heat in Crown Vics.
Open Wheel Mods feature was the first on the track for evening, and Brown went flag to flag to pick up the $1,000 pay day. Ben Petrey, Josh Brock, Wade Couch, and Ryan Couch rounded out the top 5. Wade Couch picked up the $200 Hard Charger Bonus.
In the Hobby Stock Feature, Ean Baker out of London, Ky went flag to flag to pick up his first ever feature win! Jason Callebs, Nick Collins, Bryce Elkins, and James Privett rounded out the top 5. James Privett also picked up the Hard Charger Bonus as well.
FWD also saw a first time winner this past weekend. Jacob Smith out of Barbourville, KY lead flag to flag to pick up the win. Austin Leach, Austin Kawasaki, Rick Beales, and Raymond Fuson rounded out the top 5. Rick Beales picked up 11 spots to get the Hard Charger Bonus!
Crown Vics had Trace Wilson continue his winning streak on The Mountain! Wilson also lead flag to flag winning by 4.755 seconds. Jacob Shupe, Tyler Kelly, Joshua Shupe, and Franklin Helton rounded out the top 5. Joshua Shupe picked up 3 spots to earn the Hard Charger Bonus.
JR FWD saw no stranger in victory lane as Skyler Hayes picked up another win in 2025. Gavan Durr, Easton Ray, and Gabe Strunk rounded the rest of the remaining cars.
